Technology in the classroom

I think that technology should be made a very important part of an elementary classroom. Technology opens up so many doors that can be so helpful to help teaching now than it did in the past. There are so many different resources on the internet that can help a teacher reach the content standards. I used to think that there was not very many different ways to use the internet in the classroom, but I am constantly being shown different ways that it can be used. After learning about trackstar.com, I am definitly planning on using that in the future. But there are other forms of technology that can be used. During my classroom field study I was introduced to a Smart Board. That was the most amazing thing I have ever seen. My lesson plans will have to include different ways to incorporate technology and computers in order for my students to learn the skills that are necessary for them to function in the world today.

You are right Kelly! Technology is so important in the classroom, and they are constantly coming up with new ways to use it in our classrooms! Have you heard of something called "the grid"? It is a network that is something like the world wide web only much much faster...anyway, what scares me about it is that possibly in the next 5 years the internet as we know it will be obselete! I am glad that we are in a setting where new things in technology are introduced to us on almost a daily basis!

Use that technology in your classroom later and in your lessons now! It is so much fun to do! :o)

Kelly~ Technology really does open up the doors to learning like never before. With all the different programs, uses of the Internet, and other gadgets, the ideas are endless. As you begin to really get into your method's classes during your last couple of years, continue to look for great ideas (like TrakStar) to have as resources for your classroom. Also, as you begin to plan out your lessons pay attention to not only the content standards, but also the technology standards so that you will be well aware of ways to prepare your students for the future.
